At the same time, we are enveloped by storms of information..so much information coming at us from all directions...what to read, watch, believe and decide?
Sometimes, through the storm, a simple story can best present basic ideas and lessons. There is no better story that has appealed to generations than the Wolf and The 3 Little Pigs. The underlying moral, of course, is that the best prepared individual, given choices, will better outlast any dramatic problems or changes with the potential to live happily ever after.
Let's imagine for this story that Unemployment can be represented as a bad wolf.
Now, a recent New York Times article has outlined how millions of unemployed people face years without jobs as the recession continues to mount, with millions nearing the end of their unemployment benefits.

Here are some statistics from the experts:
- approximately 6.3 million Americans have been unemployed for six months or longer, the largest number since the government began keeping track in 1948. 15 million are officially jobless.
- need 100,000 new jobs a month just to absorb entrants to the labor force.
- large companies are increasingly owned by institutional investors who crave swift profits, a feat often achieved by cutting payroll. Companies hire less or find capital equipment to replace workers.
- the declining influence of unions has made it easier for employers to shift work to part-time and temporary employees.
- factory work and even white-collar jobs have moved in recent years to low-cost countries in Asia.
- automation has helped manufacturing cut 5.6 million jobs since 2000 — the sort of jobs that once provided lower-skilled workers with middle-class paychecks.
- strapped households have less buying power which affects auto companies, home construction, foreclosed properties, retails sales and more.
Back to the story, and the simple premise that it is obvious that the threat of unemployment is like the big bad wolf’s threat to the security of the three little pigs.
In fact, let's take a creative look at these challenges with an analogy...that the big bad wolf is the unemployment attacker and the three little pigs act as the three plans that can best deal with the "huffing and puffing" of this uncertain economy.
Let’s begin this simple analogy...
A deep recession fell upon the land. More people fell out of work and savings petered out, and the menace of unemployment, like a hungry wolf, appeared in the neighbourhood. People accustomed to the comforts of middle-class life began to rely on public assistance for the first time in their lives..could it potentially be for years to come?
People began to look at three possible plans in case the unemployment wolf knocked on their doors.
PLAN #1...Hang on and hope the recession will pass. This somewhat passive thinking is like living in a twig house..no personal income, no protection at the mercy of harsh realities.
a.Try and adapt to live without a secure paycheck or unemployment check. It may mean doing without prescription medications, health insurance, certain amenities, healthier food choices, holidays, education and more.
b. Face the spectre of being homeless as a real possibility.
c. Start to believe you are the failure and blame yourself because of age, weight gain or any other "prominent insecurity".
PLAN #2... Be more proactive and look for suitable other employment.
a. Send out local flyers to clean houses or walk dogs. Check out local job listings. Send out dozens of resumes and not hear back. Respond to online ads with less than desirable offers. Take a state-financed program, many with low wages.
b. Check out more expensive investments in what are considered to be the best jobs (for over forty year olds) where you can make potentially make $100,000. Here are some examples..education administrator, strategic communication professional, community sevice co-ordinator, computer systems manager (need MBA with focus on technology) or even a small scale niche farmer (whatever that means).
c. Browse the internet filled with schemes and dreams to ransom a king's treasures. In my opinion these are like straw houses easily blown away with excuses and failures.

The more I thought about this human drama, the more I was struck by certain similarities.
1. The GAME and BUSINESS MODEL
The game of golf remains constant and true to its principles. It continues to exist within the spectrum of personal victories and failures of golfers. There will always be golfers striving for recognition and beating their personal best within rules and protocol.
The MLM industry model…its main concepts and functions will continue into the future within the range of millionaire, poor, new or veteran networkers who strive to make it work as well as they hope to. If goals do not work out as planned, we, as entrepreneurs, have the right to change the rules to better meet changing times.
2. THE MESSAGE
One sincere explanation will be believed or not believed. His apology for his behavior will be received and dissected in as many diverse ways as possible by people with as many diverse viewpoints, including those who may not even play the game or have working knowledge. Those with secondary agendas will step from the shadows and try to capitalize from his fame and fortune.
It happens when trying to explain the Network Marketing Business Model. Some will take a pitch...some will cry foul and some will hit amazing home runs! Some people have no experience, or a bad experience or base their understanding on hearsay. Entitlement or entrenchment is not the channel to make judgments and decisions. MOTHERHOOD
...involved babysitting three children for my brother and his wife while they went on a much needed vacation. A 3 year old, a 6 year old and a 17 year old became my responsibility. It was full time work...First, the cooking from preparation to clean up from breakfast to a hot lunch to home cooked suppers. Second, the standard duties...mail, shopping, laundry, organization. Third, the quality playtime..reading, sharing discoveries, paying attention, toys, laughter, a few tears, helping, games, redirections (don’t like using the words No or Can’t ) and lots and lots of affirmations. I walked away with a renewed and deeper respect for the countless things moms do (without the aid of a day care facility).
And it’s a full time job..common enough to the last generation..like my mother who raised five children on a homestead...we were her focus, strength and world...a legacy we still enfold.
And it is unconditional protection, love and security for the best of futures.
SECURITY (versus Insecurity)
In the evenings I found a few minutes to myself. I read Robert Kiyosaki’s new book Conspiracy of the Rich. It is written in a readable style that actually does simplify the complex world of finances…what created today’s economic challenges and how they can be tempered. It is definitely recommended for its 8 New Rules of Money with the biggest concern on how the future will be different. Here are just a handful of factors:
- baby boomers are retiring and beginning to collect Social Security in an unprecedented rate..78 million
- suburbs are ground zero for the subprime mess..major shopping centers and retailers are closing their doors while online shopping is taking off
- television networks are losing advertisers to the world wide web
- major airlines are on life support while people visit all over the world via the Internet
- pension plans are going broke both company pensions, health care and Social Security
- China will soon be the richest country on Earth and is asking that the US dollar no longer be the reserve currency of the world
One eye is watching the children sleeping peacefully...one eye is now watching warily economic forces unfold over which most families have no control. One hand is rocking the cradle...the other hand is building a life raft.
A home business with a personal supplementary income is definitely an answer in this uncertain economic forecast. The next question is what kind of home business? Who will help me? How much will it cost? How much can I make?

How to Follow the True Majority Nature of Network Marketing Home Business with OYC…not Minority Alpha LeadersOnce in awhile something crosses my desk that is so self-serving and madly contrary to what the true nature of this home business of network marketing is all about. It must be rebutted to show people an alternative, more compassionate inroad to this great home business. Thoughts and words are where people first start to agree or disagree about changing their own belief system. What if certain words will only help to close your mind, underrate and confuse you? Why not, let other words stand in service to your true potential and open your mind?.
Let’s first look at what a few network marketers proclaim. They commonly advertise themselves as the top dogs...the alpha leaders...that others want to follow. Huge advertising campaigns buy many internet marketing audiences and sometimes, it seems, its only their show biz pitch you hear. They offer programs to magnetize your personality...to tap into the phenomenon of an alpha male or female worthy of pursuit by countless wanna-bees. The image of a James Bond looks out with steely gaze and bravado confidence as you are led to think that every successful networker should assume a James Bond role (image and all).
For example, here are some of the benefits of their training (paraphrased some longer statements..I couldn’t make this up if I tried )
- become naturally attractive...radiate confidence and focus your energies on achieving your goals
- get a strong frame so others are sucked into your reality of what’s possible
- have a lot of rules that others must follow when they are around you
- everyone wants to work with you because you authorize your own hosting, lead generation and marketing campaigns
- love and respect your body, dress with style, and live healthy lifestyles
- show integrity and not tolerate disrespect or in fact ignore persons who don’t follow you
…and, get the hottest girls if you’re an Alpha male…I’m really not making this up..
The program is about attracting Alpha Leaders..you are either in their exclusive club or you are called another name, the Betas. These people are described as having “little confidence or value to offer others, so they simply flock to those who do have it in hopes that it will rub off. They are essentially, “unsure” of themselves, or still uncomfortable with the idea of being a leader. They typically live life in a state of “reaction”, where life events and other people dictate their rules and reality. It’s usually someone else’s fault. Beta entrepreneurs cannot exist..only Alphas who can “lead themselves through adversity and challenge”
What egotistical balderdash! Do you buy any of this untrue, unfair supposition?
How can any ONE person focus so much on his / her own biased PHENOMENAL SELF – when proper information can empower and secure financial well-being for so many well-meaning people. Doesn’t it sound like a little “conspiracy of the rich” getting their fingers into this common pie started at the grassroots level?
The foundation of network marketing has always been where average people with above average dreams can start a home business with minimal capital and maximize profits by helping each other to succeed.
Now I will agree with a couple of points:
People do not join a business, they join YOU.
Now, in a traditional businesses or corporations, you need strong, visionary leadership, top-down management, competition and rank advancement based on competence...
Network marketing is based on different concepts where every person is given the same tools, co-operation is the rule and the bottom-up is helped to rise to the top so everyone to experience success. This system is also known as “pay it forward” which can be found on the Entrepreneur’s Assembly Line as outlined by Own Your Channel.
Belief comes before results…what you think sets the tracks for your actions. So why would any one boost their ego at the expense of discriminating against the more democratic majority?
This is where the Alphas blindside themselves by looking too long in their own mirrors. Masterminds may work in other industries but not as well here. Network marketing is not about duplicating a roomful of celebrities and James Bond look-alikes comparing their “hit-Lists.”
The true concepts are based on leverage and duplication with the end result of residual incomes. In other words...every person can share a message from an expert with people they care about who also see the value of a simple plan to make long term income...without the worry of earning a per hour wage in an uncertain economic climate.
Network marketing is not about following alpha leaders and their expensive, time-consuming magnetizing programs that the average person has no reason to do. Give us a break…Its about a simple program that everybody can do like Own Your Channel. (read the many benefits in the previous post)

In the spirit of sharing here is one gift of wisdom as we celebrate this one special holiday among many others. It is the story of how one man earned $5 million dollars in the early 1900’s when the common working wage was about $400 a year, a lawyer earned $2500 annually, and a 4-cylinder, five-passenger car was $1250.
He repeated one action over and over again.
His fortune allowed him to found a small seminary to train Baptist ministers. That school soon grew into Temple University, one of the first universities to offer affordable education to working-class Americans: it stands today as the most visible example of his legacy and vision.
His name was Reverend Russell Conwell. In an era when many Americans would pack public halls to hear speeches given by great citizens of their day, Russell Conwell read his world-famous lecture hundreds of times over and over again. It was titled "Acres of Diamonds," and it was delivered more than 6,000 times to audiences.
His speech told the story of a farmer who sold his farm so he could travel overseas searching for diamonds. After a lifetime of searching, he returned home penniless, having never found treasure.
In the meantime, one day, the man who purchased his farm noticed a sparkle in the stream running through the property. He waded into the water and found – a diamond!
Turns out, the farm was sitting on one of the world’s largest diamond mines, which made the new owner a fortune beyond his imagination or dreams.
The point of Conwell’s speech: you can find a fortune literally in your own backyard, if you just take the time to look for it.
The reverend concluded his talk by saying: “Your diamonds are not in far distant mountains or in yonder seas. They are in your own backyard if you but dig for them.”
So what gems can we gather from this story a century later?
Several, actually, if we dig deep enough.
Gem #1: the perennial lesson that the rewards of work, education, and finding the riches of life can be found “in one's own back yard.” I would add “within your mental framework.” It doesn’t matter what your walk in life. There are no physical obstacles to stop you.
Gem #2: the resources to achieve all good things…opportunity, service, achievement, and fortune are in your hands…no need for a futile search to emulate them in other backyards.
Gem #3: just imagine how the resources of our Information Technology are infinitely more available now than compared to a 100 years ago…We now have an electronic virtual transmission of the power of knowledge or “intellectual distribution” without boundaries or limitations. Within the reach of our fingertips, we can share valuable social networking, a new brilliant reverse logic to a standard way of networking, a compelling video..a webinar..an unprecedented opportunity..and joint ventures.
What if, you repeated one action over and over again with the power of a phone or keyboard.
It starts by sharing a simple link to a couple of expert videos.
But it’s not the Grinch we must avoid…but rather the “kink to the link”..if you wish. This gift of information is invaluable only if you see the purpose and others also see the value.

Worse of all, they doubt themselves.
I'm telling you, doubt will destroy your life and your chances of success.
It will empty both your bank account and your heart.
Doubt is an enemy Go after it. Get rid of it.
The fourth enemy within is worry.
We've all got to worry some. Just don't let it conquer you.
Instead, let it alarm you. Worry can be useful. If you step off the
curb in New York City and a taxi is coming, you've got to worry.
But you can't let worry loose like a mad dog that drives you into a
small corner.
Here's what you've got to do with your worries: drive them into a small corner.
Whatever is out to get you, you've got to get it.
Whatever is pushing on you, you've got to push back.
Do battle with the enemy. Do battle with your fears.
Build your courage to fight what's holding you back, what's keeping you from
your goals and dreams. Be courageous in your life and in your actions.
Now you have two gifts: the gift of valuable information..how to be an entrepreneur..how to join a team of veteran successful business people.

Unemployment has caused major life changes and mental health issues for millions of Americans, a New York Times/CBS News poll found.

Now here are some of the realities faced by unemployed workers which applied to nearly half of them
- borrowed money from friends or relatives
- cut back on doctor’s visits or medical treatments and did not have health insurance
- suffered from depression, anxiety, insomnia
- encountered more difficulties with conflicts and arguments
- had trouble maintaining even the basic necessities ,paying house payments and other bills
- faced rising foreclosures and evictions
- more embarrassed and ashamed of being out of work (men more so than women)
- majority were rethinking career choices, moving, retraining
- took on additional hours or another job to make ends meet (or spouse)
Does receiving unemployment benefits cover basic necessities…61 percent said no.
Does the job market look promising for future security… 39 percent anticipate improvement, 36 percent expect it will stay the same, and 22 percent say it will get worse.
Who or what is to blame for this high unemployment rate?
The highest blame went first to government and politicians (37%), banks (8%), globalization (8%) and other causes
Another interesting note: Approximately 30% people in a nationwide poll said their salary had been cut due to bad economic conditions.

So is there a silver lining in this stormy economic prediction?
A network marketing home business is an ideal solution but it must be done right. The normal sequence must be reversed. Given a choice, what sequence would you choose:

I am physically moving from my downstairs home office to a new upstairs office that now adjoins a new backyard deck and patio.
In the process of moving, I’m also sorting and eliminating a lot of paper work. A lot of learning..but not much earning.

My second conclusion was that spending time and money building a large distribution channel (or sales channel) couldn’t be justified if the business model required selling a single product from a single company. Where would Sam Walton be today if he had spent billions of dollars building Walmart Supercenters all over the country only to put a single product on the shelf? He’d be out of business. Why do we assume we can do what he could not do? In other words, building a business around a single company is seriously flawed.
If we are going to build a sales team (or channel), we should maximize our investment and put multiple products on the shelf.
So the results of my research are:
1. There is no other factor as important as the size of your team or sales channel. The size of your team determines the size of your check. Because of this fact, it seems to be putting the cart before the horse by joining a company before you start building your team.
2. You cannot justify the expense of building a sales channel (team or downline) if you plan to sell a single product from a single company.
A new idea is born:
It all boils down to one simple truth: if you have a big enough team, you'll make money in ANY network marketing company.

Home Business Experience...you don’t want to miss this fishing trip analogyRecently I had the good fortune to be part of my family’s fishing expedition. The experiences offered many lessons for the home business entrepreneur whether just looking for an opportunity or just starting or deeply involved. Fishing is such a great analogy to weathering life’s choices...but without vision and effort there can be no results.
What if I had decided not to go on this trip based on a dozen excuses why I didn’t want to go..too expensive, too far, no skills, no time, too old, too many variables..what if the weather turned stormy? These trials and tribulations, successes and memories would not exist for me today. The pictures you can view on my facebook profile would not exist to share.
The greater the pity for loss of no effort..the greater the lesson in believing you can do it.
JUST DO IT..whether a fishing trip or a home business..but do it by planning and knowing you can be successful.
THE IDEA…my brother read about this fishing resort and special discount at the end of the season…never experienced Ocean Fishing before..the reports were great about excellent catches, so why not try a family trip…planned 3 months in advance
THE PREPARATIONS... Follow company’s procedures for a 4 day trip, obtain licenses, reserve accomodations, prepare personal belongings, travel to destination…9 hour drive plus ferry journey to Eagles Nest, lovely bed and breakfast location…another 4 hour mountainous drive to picturesque Uculet Inlet.
THE START... 4:30 AM buffet breakfast... 6:00 AM Departure every day... follow the “feed ball” that salmon and halibut also follow...a two-hour boat trip to reach “feeding shelf” about 200 feet down...actual fishing time was about 2 and a half hours to ensure return trip back on time to docks…all fishing rods and bait set, safety regulations reviewed.
THE EXPERIENCE...went out four days and other than the first morning...the weather held steady with lots of sunshine, brisk sea breeze, and brilliant white clouds...basic method was jigging or mooching one stop at a time...interesting interactions with 20 other people, many with no experience, all flipping and running lines...but nothing unmanageable or quickly untangled..a marvelous on-deck multi-talented crew...there was always someone to help
THE SUCCESS..29 salmon and 44 halibut.
THE PROBLEMS...the first morning was touch and go as to whether the boat would even go out...
swells were 15 feet high...other fishing boats disappeared into “troughs”...too difficult to hold both rod and railing...least amount of fish caught...a few sea sick...so glad to see the docks…don’t want to do this again..however…let’s try one more time.
The last morning...drenching rain on the docks...don’t want to go out but got to support the team and it turned out brilliant and calmest once we were out to the open ocean
THE EXTRAS...watching an early morning hazy, golden sunrise on vast ocean waters…seeing gray whales arch against the steely blue and wave their gigantic tails…visiting Long Beach and to watch the surf…visiting the primeval, magnificent Cathedral Forest…great camaraderie..shared meals, drinks, laughter, tall tale stories of the ones that caught away... wouldnt want to miss this trip in hindsight

Home business..you’ve got talent if you can follow 3 simple stepsIt is such a thrill to watch talent shows like America's Got Talent and this season’s final performance was exceptional.
One theme seems to shine through these discoveries and performances. It is when the underdog realizes he or she has an unrealized talent finally, suddenly shared, appreciated and applauded.
It’s like a middle-aged Susan Boyle who never was given the chance to sing and now “wild horses” can't hold her back.
It's about a beautiful opera singer who overcame cancer, a recycled-instrument percussion group from New Hampshire who never gave up on their dream, amazing Texas Tenors and the unbelievable singing siblings of true Voices of Glory with a young sister only 9 years old, and a septenarian grandmother with a priceless wit.
And its like Kevin Skinner, a chicken catcher or farmer from a small town in Kentucky with such the saddest expression and a heart-felt voice about life’s basic emotions who won the top prize.
A stronger contrast of possibilities is hard to imagine from the quiet hills of Kentucky to the glitz of Las Vegas headliner..it boggles the mind.
But that is the very nature of possibilities and following one’s dream.
And therein lies a valuable lesson for home business opportunity seekers or entrepreneurs..
We all have talent…maybe not in the same league as singing or dancing that has been perfected with years of practice and perseverance.
But we all have ability in speaking and sharing and caring about making a difference.
We all deserve something special in our lives..an acknowledgement..a self-satisfaction ..a celebration of more time and money..more freedom to live life on our own terms.
A successful home business can permit us to do that.
We may not have the time, commitment and development to become a sports star, sales professional or other kind of celebrity. We may not have the faces or bodies to succeed in certain fields.
But I believe we all deserve something different from a life routine that may feel limited, dull, repetitive, boring, even faceless. We all deserve to at least have a CHOICE to leave something for future generations.
We deserve to follow our dreams, too.

Success of a dream does not depend on hopes, prayers, affirmations, or ceremonies.
Realization of a dream does not depend on reading a thousand positive thinking books or listening to a hundred seminars to pull you through.
No magic or luck or supernatural force will shine upon you.
You need to click the start button.
